Margerum Wine Company

Doug Margerum
Owner/Director of Winemaking

Doug started his food and wine explorations while traveling with his parents at age 14 in France. His passion for food and wine was enhanced as he worked in restaurants as a cook and server throughout his high school and college years. Coinciding with his graduation from UCSB in 1981, his family purchased Wine Cask in Santa Barbara – which quickly expanded to include a simple bistro adjacent to the existing wine store. In 1994 Wine Cask became one of 74 restaurants in the world to earn the Wine Spectator Grand Award. Doug sold Wine Cask in 2007 after deciding to devote all of his energies to wine making. MARGERUM WINE COMPANY was established in 2001. Doug’s philosophy is to return to wine making in its previous form of production – handcrafted and personal. In addtion to Margerum & BARDEN wines, Doug is also the winemaker/consultant for Happy Canyon Vineyards, Rancho Boa Vista, La Encantada Vineyards and Paradise Springs of Santa Barbara.

Michael Miroballi 

Michael Miroballi graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in Geology and wanted to pursue a career connected to the earth near his beloved home, the Santa Ynez Valley. His first harvest with Margerum Wine Company was 2009. He believes in hard work, patience, and a commitment to excellence. Michael’s focus on producing wines of the highest quality and his passion for Santa Barbara County wines are tremendous assets to Margerum Wine Company, which includes both Margerum & BARDEN Wines.


Michael Miroballi




Brooks Van Wingerden 
General Manager

Raised in Santa Barbara, Brooks graduated from UCLA where she studied sociology and communications. While there, she worked for Sports Illustrated handling sales and marketing programs as well as market research for prominent advertisers. Upon graduation, Brooks worked at UBS Financial Services where she managed client relations and marketing programs for a high net worth wealth management team. After finishing her Certified Financial Planning degree at UCSB, she realized she wished to follow her passion for wine. Since joining Margerum Wine Company in 2010, she has used her financial background to quantify sales goals, manage the brand nationally for the company, and oversee the daily operations.

Christina Panameno 
Chief Financial Officer

Armed with her degree from the University of California, Santa Cruz, Christina landed herself an executive assistant position to the CEO of a prominent investment company located in the heart of San Francisco's financial district. Although she loved the experience that this afforded her, the beautiful central coast, a place where she is deeply rooted, was calling her back home. She set out in search of a career with a company that embodied the perfect ratio of hard work and good living and found a perfect fit with Margerum Wine Company.

Morgan Kelley 
Tasting Room Manager

After graduating the University of California, Santa Barbara with a major in Aquatic Biology, Morgan worked as a harvest intern for Margerum 2018 vintage in Buellton. Here, she learned the ins and outs of making the personal and refined wines Margerum is known for. Morgan discovered her passion for science and agriculture as a young girl however, while working as a restaurant server during college, her bright presence led her to uncover a new savvy-- hospitality. Her dedication to learning has prompted her to continue to strive for more knowledge of wine making, in which she hopes to use to educate customers in the tasting room. She is excited and honored to be part of such a wonderful team who gives her that “small, hometown feel” she grew up with before coming to Santa Barbara.


Morgan Kelley

Raul Figueroa 
Warehouse Manager

Raul was born and raised in Santa Maria, Both of his parents work in wine industry. In 2012, Raul completed his first harvest and has continued until today. All wineries thathe has worked have been in Santa Barbara County. The winery sizes have range from 5,000 cs to over 100,000 cs productions. Raul has over 5 years of warehousing experience & is a great asset to the Margerum Wine Company team!

Renee Grossini
Distribution Sales Manager

Renee has deep roots in the local wine community, she is the 4th generation of her family to live on their beloved ranch in the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills.  She started working at a neighboring winery part-time while going to college, fell in love with the fast pace and variety, and never looked back.  As a Sta. Rita Hills Wine Alliance board member, she represents and promotes the incredible wineries and vineyards of this unique AVA.  Renee is honored to continue on this path at Margerum.



Kilho Park
Wine Club Manager

Kilho is a family man, US Navy veteran, photographer, NYU graduate, Philly transplant firmly rooted in Santa Barbara, and professional wine enthusiast. He was gifted a bottle of M5 as a welcome gift when he moved to Santa Barbara in 2013, and he hasn't looked back since.  Wine is indeed good living.


Alysa Grover

Office Manager

A central coast native, Alysa (pronounced 'Ah-Lisa') joined the Margerum team with over a decade of hospitality and compliance experience, garnered from both long standing, and emerging industries. After obtaining a degree in Small Business Management and Marketing, she found her niche in a local company, making local wine, for (not just) local people. The only way she could be happier if she had a glass of Sybarite in hand while doing it.
